- Inspect vehicle for customers concern. Road test vehicle. There is a slight whining noise heard when slowing down, mostly from 10 mph to a stop. This noise heard is coming from the transmission and is to be considered normal. At this time, according to the fuel economy minder on the vehicle, the mileage is normal at this time. Around town driving should be 17-19 mpg and freeway should be between 27-30 mpg. These are realistic numbers for California driving. Scanned PCM for codes- No codes stored at this time.
